The new, 100% handmade Artway Cotton-Rag paper packs are a fantastic addition to our Indigo handmade range. Each pack, being handmade, is entirely unique, in tone and grain, though overall the paper is a mid-rough texture. For a unique and beautiful surface for your creative ideas, these paper packs are unmatched. Suitable for watercolour, and all painting uses, as well as all dry and soft media - for oil painting, the surface will need to be prepared with gesso. Each sheet is individually handmade and features a fully deckled edge. Created entirely by local artisans in Northern India using traditional paper-making methods, and available in a range of paper sizes from A1 to A5, (natural variations in paper size and shape will occur between sheets due to the handmade nature of the product), the Indigo Handmade Cotton-Rag paper comes in packs wrapped in recycled paper. It is also 100% acid-free with a neutral pH and internally gelatine sized. Create your artworks using a unique, beautiful surface with Artway Indigo Handmade Cotton-Rag paper.

Not only cannot get a smooth wash, the paper disintegrates even after one wash. Gave 3 stars because Amazon refunded me promptly. This is 250 gsm, which I discovered from their website, and it buckles a lot. I really wanted to like it because it looked so nice when I received it. But in my opinion not good for watercolor. Maybe some loose style painting with limited water can work given the texture and handling of water and paint.I bought this paper to use for our wedding seating plan and other pieces, it works incredibly well and looks fantastic. I attempted using my generic home printer and to start with & I did get some ink smears on the rough edges BUT I soon sorted this by actually using an iron to flatten the paper, using the mid heat + low steam setting very briefly over each piece, letting the paper completely dry for a few mins before printing, it worked a treat. Thank you making such lovely paper! There is not one thing I have purchased from Artway that hasn't made me smile. The paper is outstanding quality, being someone who love art and mixes media, this is like my birthday getting any paper or art pads from this company. I cannot emphasise enough the quality, value and pleasure that's is everything about this paper. If it sounds luke I'm a bit passionate, I'm not afraid to admit I am. :)Beautiful handmade paper. However, my primary use for paper is printing from handcut lino, and, unfortunately, this paper is too textured to take a clean print. No doubt I will find a use for it.I love this paper but the last batch I bought seemed different. I normally use watercolours and ink on the paper and they sit nicely on it. However this last batch seemed to absorb the paint and ink more than anything and I wasn’t actually able to paint on it, almost as if the paper didn’t have a layer of whatever is used to make it a surface for using water based paints. Every other batch has been fine though.Have not tried for a full watercolour piece yet but appears to perform just as well as similar Indian cotton papers I've used at a fraction of the price per sheet. The surface is closer to a rough paper than a standard coldpress which may take some getting used to if you don't normally work with this kind of paper but the texture and deckled edges add a ton of character, highly recommend!
